Volunteer Spotlight

Our spotlight this month is on Regina Wheeler.  Regina has been a CASA advocate for 3 years.  Regina is married to Charles Wheeler and has two children and two grandchildren.  Her hobbies include:  reading, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Regina says: "I noticed an ad in a magazine for CASA in another county while spending endless days  in a hospital waiting room during the illness of my youngest grandchild. At that time not only was my innocent grandchild fighting for his life but my own neice and nephew were mixed up in the system due to a custody battle. Protecting innocent children was screaming at me as I read that ad. I knew at that moment this was something I wanted to do ...I recently read a quote from some unknown source that is so touching...

"A hundred years from now

It will not matter what

My bank account was,

The sort of house I lived in,
Or the sort of car I drove...

But the world may be different

Because I was important in the Life of a child"

It takes a special person to be a CASA Volunteer. CASA Volunteers are committed to the well-being of children and are held in high esteem by their peers, social services, the courts and the community. If you think you've got what it takes to be an advocate for children, then we are looking for you!

CASA needs your help! The court system can't see everything. CASA needs volunteers to step up and be the difference for these children. If you can't volunteer, you can still become a powerful voice in the life of a child by supporting the CASA program in other ways. You can host a volunteer recruitment presentation at your work or church, or make a donation. The recruitment, training and supervision of CASA volunteers has a real cost. Please give a child a voice."

THANK YOU REGINA FOR YOUR COMMITMENT TO FINDING SAFE AND PERMANENT PLACEMENTS FOR ABUSED AND NEGLECTED CHILDREN."
